From the Town Hall of Cernobbio you go up to Piazza Santo Stefano following the wide mule track that meets the road several times.
From Piazza S. Stefano you reach Gentrino and then the steep Via per Piazzola. The mule track allows a more direct itinerary.
At the junction with directions for Piazzola / Croce dell’Uomo, turn left onto the military mule track that leads to the panoramic balcony of the Chiesetta di S. Abbondio.
Descent: upstream from the little church, follow the wide and well-tended track that goes down to the junction for Piazzola (easily reachable with a short climb) heading north.
