BELLAGIO AND ITS VILLAS
If you are in Como, we suggest half-day excursions: short and pleasant walks.
Time: about 4 hours
Itinerary: Como – Bellagio – Villa Serbelloni – Villa Melzi – Villa Giulia – Villa Trivulzio –
Villa Trotti – centro di Bellagio
The itinerary begins in Como, in Piazza Cavour where you can take the hydrofoil (for information and timetables visit the site of the Navigazione del Lago di Como).
In less than 1 hour Bellagio is reached, considered worldwide as “the pearl of Lake Como” due to its favorable position. It stands on the promontory between the two branches of the lake, Como and Lecco. Bellagio is also famous for the beautiful villas that dominate the landscape.
First of all the fifteenth-century Villa Serbelloni, overlooking a huge park with 18 kilometers of trails. then there is also the neoclassical Villa Melzi (1810), with its beautiful gardens, the first example of an English garden.
We also remember the eighteenth-century Villa Giulia, full of statues, fountains and exotic plants, Villa Trivulzio, and finally the neo-Gothic Villa Trotti.
Before returning to Como, we also recommend visiting the small streets of the small village, where there are many boutiques and shops with handicrafts.
