Other lovely villages on Lake Como are: Menaggio, Plesio, Grandola e Uniti.
Menaggio
Menaggio is situated on the western shore of Lake Como, where the road bordering the western side of the lake and the road leading through the Val Menaggio to Lugano meet.
Its central position, among lake and mountains, makes Menaggio an ideal starting point for all kinds of excursions.
The town consists in a centre and three hamlets Loveno, Nobiallo and Croce.
The splendid lake side promenade offers a unique view of the central lake.
To be pointed out: the church of San Carlo, the parish church of S. Stefano, the small church of S. Marta, the small church of S. Giusto, Villa Mylius Vigoni, Villa Garovaglio-Ricci, the church of SS. Bartolomeo and Nicola, the Sanctuary of Madonna della Pace, the lookout of Mount Crocetta.
Plesio is a municipality composed of different hamlets, which are scattered among woods and pastures.
To be pointed out: the Madonna’s Sanctuary at Breglia, from which the view is wonderful, and the parish church from the XVIth century.
Grandola e Uniti
This municipality is composed of several districts: Codogna, Cardano, Grona, Gonte, Naggio, Velzo.
The area also includes the Val Sanagra, a valley full of deer and roe deer.
The town of Cardano has a lovely medieval center.
To be pointed out: the Villa Bagatti Valsecchi (of the eighteenth century, later enlarged), Villa Camozzi (of the eighteenth century, now seat of the new Val Senagra Museum), the “Rogolone” (secular tree reachable through an easy walk).
